Saavi Workshop for Teens - Unlocking Creativity August 10, 2024 - Pondicherry

Every time I sit down to create a pamphlet for a session, it brings a new joy in my inner self. Working with the teens had become a rejuvenating process for my soul. We started Saavi workshops in Chennai 6 months back. I wanted to bring this to Pondicherry for past 3 months.

For me personally the pamphlet is very special as it is the messenger between me and the participants. Once I come up with the date, idea behind the workshop the next biggest step is the creation of the pamphlet. Every time I do a design it feels like I am revisiting the idea behind the workshop. I am grateful to begin the journey of SAAVI in Pondicherry.

               This month we explored Water through the writings of the author “Rochelle Strauss” in his book “ONE WELL”. In this book he builds the idea of “All the water in the water belongs to One global well”. This book was suggested by a friend when we were exploring water with the teens.

               It is a wonderful book for the children of 8 to 12 age group as it has lots of colourful drawings, statistics about water consumption, life cycle of water and water as a resource for all living beings.

In this session, we explored the perception of the author through seminar and discussion. Participants shared their thoughts on the author’s view. At the end of the session, participants were asked to draw a picture about the reading. It was beautiful to see how each participant brought different parts of the reading through their images.

In the second part of the session was to express our relationship with water through watercolor and poetry. Participants explored wet on wet water coloring painting. We created a hand stitched booklet with watercolor painted front page for poetry writing.
