A small step towards our vision of building a community for teens.
This month "saavi" was a sweet experience as we finished our first residential workshop in our farm. It was a weekend full of nature, joy, Hardwork and togetherness.
The teens designed and created a mini space for experiments with nature. The first session on day 1 was to create a design for the space in a way it is functional. They came up with few designs and finalised a design with boxes on 2 sides and in the middle.
The session 2 and 3 was focussed to create wooden boxes for the space so that can we try different soil mixtures. It was fun to measure, cut and hammer it together. At the end of tge day, they wanted to try fishing in the well which was so much aand ended up with the entire wire being pulled into the well.
The evening was filled with exploring Frisbee, skipping and juggling. Then we all played board games as the lights went down. Dimmed light and board games were made for each other. The last activity of the day was to tie the musquito nets and doze off.
Day 2 began with finishing up the boxes and filling the boxes with diffwrent ratios of soil and compost. Then came designing of planting. They decided to plant tree seeds with different mixtures in 3 boxes and vegetables in the 2 boxes with layered soil mixtures.
The last session was an exploration to make a souvenir and reflection. We explored coconut shell and plywood to make bird feeders, cellphone stand and soap stands. We explored flower reflection where each one of us shared the moments to cherish, to let go, the best part of us and part we want to improve.
We are grateful to all parents and volunteers who joined us in this journey.
